Spring Into Action!

What’s In The Garden

Spring is finally here. While this much-awaited season arrived with a coating of snow, it’s quite clear that local gardeners are raring to go.

Easter is early this year: Sunday, March 27. Bring that first breath of spring indoors with Easter plants, cut flowers, centerpieces, and floral arrangements from Rohsler’s. The florist’s cooler is packed with cut flowers in every imaginable hue.

EasterBasket2This year, give a “healthy” version of the traditional Easter Basket. Our baskets are planted with Hydrangeas, Tulips, Daffodils, Hyacinths, and Lilies. After they finish brightening your home with their cheery blossoms, plant the flowering plants from these baskets in your garden and you’ll enjoy their beauty again next spring.

Will you be visiting a gardener this weekend? Give your friend a container filled with our jewel-toned Pansies, Violas, or Johnny-Jump-Ups. Because they tolerate the cold, these steadfast plants are ready to go outside right now.

Rohsler’s Grown Hydrangeas also make an ideal gift. Large blossoms in fuchsia, blue, purple, white, red, and pale yellow edged with pink hover above dark green foliage. Keep Hydrangeas indoors for now, and plant them outdoors when the weather warms up a little more. Hydrangea blossoms make excellent dried flowers that will continue to delight you in arrangements or woven into wreaths.

While you’re at the nursery, be sure to enjoy a Sweet & Greet with the Easter Bunny. Children will be treated to candies and a chance to have their picture taken with Bunny. Stop in from 10-4 on March 25 and 26, and from 10-2 on March 27 (Easter).

EasterBunny-prodOur well-loved goats, Wilma and Mildred (“Babyface” and “Baby Girl”), will also be in the sales yard this weekend. Soon they will be relocated in their back pasture for the spring and summer months. They love to see who’s stopping by. Just don’t let them eat your Pansies and perennials!

This week, Rohsler’s has perennials available in one-quart and gallon containers. Our selection includes Hellebores, Mountain Pinks, Columbine, Candytuft, and more. Our nursery yard is also filling up with choice flowering trees and shrubs as well as evergreens and fruit trees.

As you step outside this week, remember to fortify your lawn. It’s the perfect time to prevent crabgrass, fertilize, lime, and seed. Rohsler’s is offering a special Instant In-Store Rebate on Scott’s Four Step.

We welcome the coming of spring and look forward to helping all of our customers have successful and rewarding experiences with their landscapes, gardens, and yards this year.
