ORGANIC ALTERNATIVES

Rohsler’s gives gardeners a choice of organic alternatives to control insects and diseases. Copper-based fungicides and bio-fungicides can be used to control various diseases. Bayer Serenade Garden Disease Control can be used on your fruits and berries as well as other plants such as vegetables and herbs. This product controls a broad spectrum of common fungal and bacterial diseases. After using it, you can harvest and eat the fruits and vegetables the same day they are treated. Also, there is no risk to bees or beneficial insects.

After harvest

Don’t know what to do with your berries and fruits after they are harvested? From eating the produce raw to using them to make delicious desserts or smoothies, the ideas are endless.

Berries and fruits can be easily frozen for later use. For berries, wash them and lay them out on a flat surface to dry completely. For fruits, first, wash off the fruit, then peel off the skins and cut them up into the desired size. Then put the berries and cut up fruit in zip lock bags and place them in the freezer. After they are frozen, berries and fruits can last up to a year! This allows for many different delicious options to come. Frozen berries and fruits are perfect for additions to smoothies. Since they are already frozen, sometimes you don’t even need to add ice to the ingredients!

Berries and fruits also make delicious fillers for pies and wonderful additions to other baked goods such as cupcakes, or cakes. When baking with berries and fruits, they can either be made with fresh berries right off the plant or frozen from months before.
