Bulb of the week – Daffodils

From the smallest to the tallest, Daffodils (Narcissus) are a foolproof choice for your garden. These tireless performers, some of which are delightfully fragrant, are practically synonymous with spring. They are equally at home in a garden bed, a container garden, or as part of a naturalized landscape. Daffodils are deer resistant because they contain the alkaloid lycorine which makes the bulb and foliage unpalatable to deer as well as squirrels and chipmunks. Daffodils will bloom for many years in the garden as long as the foliage is allowed to naturally wither away after they are done flowering. Now is the perfect time to plant Daffodil bulbs for beautiful vibrant spring color.
