Join Us For An Exciting Trip To Chanticleer & Morris Arboretum, Two Fabulous Gardens Northwest Of Philadelphia

This field trip to two diverse properties will capture your inner garden spirit.  Join us on Wednesday, August 2^nd.

Our first stop of the day is to Chanticleer, a 48-acre botanical garden with open lawns and large trees.  The unique sections of the garden include: Teacup Garden, Entry Gardens, Ruin and Gravel Garden, Pond Garden, Cut-flower and Vegetable Garden.  The estate was originally owned by Adolph Rosengarten Jr. 

We will have a 90-minute tour of the garden and the first floor of the main house.

Our second stop is to the Morris Arboretum where we will have lunch followed by a one-hour Garden Highlights Tour.

Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania began in 1887 as Compton, the summer home of John and Lydia Morris, brother and sister.  John was the plantsman; Lydia was more into the arts.  They both created their new property that was once a barren hillside.  It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Major places of interest include:  English Park, Fernery, Japanese Overlook, Japanese Hill and Water Garden, Rose Garden, Rock Wall Garden, Swan Pond and the new Tree House.

Our group will meet at Old Paramus Reformed Church on East Glen Avenue in Ridgewood (facing Route 17), between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be available.  The bus will depart at 8 a.m. sharp. Plan to return to Ridgewood between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BRING A PICNIC LUNCH. There is a café on site but you must order in advance.  This trip is rain or shine. 

Please wear comfortable shoes.  Bring a friend!  The $79 fee includes bus transportation, admission for guided tours to both locations, tip for the driver, and miscellaneous expenses.

This trip is Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. with an expected return by 6 p.m.  Register early…seats fill quickly.  Deadline for registration is July 30^th.

Refund Policy: If conditions exist beyond our control, we reserve the right to cancel. Patrons cannot cancel less than two days before the trip and expect a full refund. If we have a wait list and can fill that person’s spot, only then will the money be refunded.
