Vigorous, Landscape-Ready Plants Await You at Rohsler’s
In 1913, Rohsler’s took root in Garfield, New Jersey, where Austrian immigrant Herman George Rohsler and his father-in-law started growing ornamental plants for the landscape. Since then, landscapers and customers have been returning to Rohsler’s year after year for quality plants, unparalleled service and selection, and bushels full of advice from trained horticulturists.
Rohsler’s Wholesale Growers is carrying on the tradition five generations later. Specializing in Perennials, Annuals, Poinsettias, Mums, and Hydrangeas, Rohsler’s is known for its varied selection, unique cultivars, and nurtured plants grown and well-tended in their greenhouses and fields.

Rohsler’s Bulk and Bagged Mulch & Top Soil
We process our own double-ground hardwood bulk mulch and premium top soil. Our premium top soil is enriched with organic compost and manure and is processed and screened onsite.
Native Plants
These no-fuss beauties are naturally adapted to grow in our area and are part of the region’s ecosystem. Create a sustainable garden for your customers by using Rohsler’s native Asters, Milkweed, Cardinal Flower, Phlox stolinifera, Goldenrod, Ironweed, native Ferns and Grasses, Hepatica, and Wild Ginger.
Pollinator Plants
Clusters of long-flowering plants create a buffet for bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, bats, and hummingbirds. Many of these industrious creatures are in serious decline – but we all need them to help pollinate our food plants. Pollinators enjoy nectar from various sources, and planting the right perennials and flowering trees and shrubs can provide them with food for many years to come.
Ferns, Heucheras, and Woodland Plants
Add vitality to a shady East Coast garden with these hardy plants. We are your source for hard-to-find native and non-native ferns and woodland plants, cutting-edge Heuchera (“Coral Bell”) varieties in a range of colors, and many well-loved favorites like Mayapple, Trillium, and Jack-In-The-Pulpit.
Grasses for Every Garden
These low-maintenance ornamentals are perfect for creating aesthetically pleasing landscapes for your customers. We have the best selection of ornamental grasses for our area. Grasses are: • Ecologically friendly • Excellent groundcovers • Great for erosion control • Drought-resistant • Dramatic when planted en masse
Deer Resistant Selections
We have upped the ante to offer you as many deer resistant perennials as possible. Our “no deer” symbol will help you locate our many deer resistant plants. We provide a deer rating scale so you know just how deer resistant the plant really is. In general, deer shy away from Ferns, Lamb’s Ear, Artemesia, Astilbe, Catmint, Boxwoods, and Lavender.
Early Spring Bloomers
Early Spring lights up with Bleeding Heart, Columbine, Virginia Bluebells, Rock Garden Iris, Crocusses, Daffodils, Primrose, Snowdrops, and a tremendous variety of unexpected bulbs – like Woodland Hyacinths.
Shade-Loving
Shade-loving varieties include everything from Ferns and woodland plants to selected Grass species and beyond.
Fall Color
For Fall color, add Japanese Anemones, several species of Ornamental Grasses, Joe-Pye Weed, Hardy Ageratum, Rudbeckia, Sedum (such as the aptly-named ‘Autumn Joy’) and Asters.
Groundcovers
Create a carpet of color and texture with a swath of perennial ground covers. Unconventional, but highly effective, choices include Astilbe pumila, Creeping Thyme, Hostas, Mountain Pinks, Sedum, and Chrysogonum.
Drought Tolerant
Drought tolerant perennials stand up to our region’s hot – and sometimes quite dry – summers. Xeriscape with drought-tolerant Grasses, Sedum, Hens & Chicks, Evening Primrose, and Hellebores.
Annuals & Tropicals
Many of our annuals are grown on site by Rohsler’s, and some are brought in from top growers from around the country. Begonias, Snapdragons, Dianthus, Salvia, and many Proven Winners are here, as are tropicals like Jasmine, Hibiscus, Bougainvillea, Mandevilla, Bananas, Elephant Ear, and Citrus plants. We have every Herb under the sun – along with edible fruit-bearing plants and vines.
Nursery Stock
Trees and woody shrubs are the focal point of a vibrant landscape. Rohsler’s is known for being the source for many hard-to-find specimen plants and roses. We feed the desire for tradition with one of the largest selections of roses in northern New Jersey. Choose from Hybrid Teas, Climbers, Rugosas, Floribundas, Shrub Roses, and English Roses.
