Join us on Thursday evening, June 15th, 2017 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in Westwood for an outdoor event to benefit watershed protection group, Bergen SWAN.
Landscape Architect Carolyn Summers, author of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East, will give an inspirational talk on choosing the best native plants for a multi-purpose garden that will:
- Create Habitat for Birds, Bees, and Other Beneficial Wildlife
- Control Runoff & Snowmelt
- Improve the Quality of our Local Waterways
- Build Snow & Reduce Erosion
- Showcase our Most Beautiful Indigenous Plants
The venue for the talk is Girl Scout Park, located at 3rd & 4th Avenues in Westwood, across the street from the Westwood Middle School track. The talk will take place within a few feet of two small stream-side pollinator garden beds, installed by Bergen SWAN in 2015, with help from Rohsler’s. In case of rain, the venue will move to the downstairs meeting room at Westwood Library, on Park Avenue between Broadway and Third Avenue.
Admission to the event is $10/person, and covers handouts & refreshments. For further information, including directions & payment, call 201-666-1877, or email bergenswanrsvp@gmail.com. Advanced registration is required. Payment must be received by 6/9/2017.
Sponsored by Bergen SWAN and the Westwood Environmental Advisory Committee with support from Rohsler’s Allendale Nursery.
